Use at ATMs and Other Devices

The use of external signage at a financial institution promotes immediate recognition that the MasterCard family of brands is accepted.

    Communicating Acceptance at ATMs

All ATM locations must display the appropriate Acceptance Mark(s) for the brands which are accepted. The MasterCard®, Maestro®, and Cirrus® brands must be displayed on an ATM. The MasterCard Worldwide interlocking circles signage system is employed when one or more brands using the MasterCard interlocking circles device is accepted at a point of interaction. The system requires the consecutive vertical or horizontal display of the Acceptance Marks in the following sequence—MasterCard, Maestro, Cirrus.

The MasterCard Electronic Acceptance Mark must not be displayed on an ATM. The Acceptance Marks must appear on or near the main entrance of all financial institutions participating in the MasterCard® ATM Network.

Acceptance Marks always must be clearly visible on or near the cash machine and must not appear only on the ATM screen.

Acceptance Marks must be displayed horizontally or vertically following the approved sequence. For more information, see Using Our Marks Together.

On all ATM acceptance decals and signs, Acceptance Marks must be displayed at parity with all other brands or acceptance marks. To maintain parity, Acceptance Marks must appear in a size at least equal to the largest brand or acceptance mark displayed. For more information, see Using with Other marks.

NOTE: All participants must comply with the identity standards for using the Acceptance Marks on ATM decals and plaques regarding display of the Marks on or near terminal, within thirty (30) calendar days of the Terminal's first transaction.
